Webinar: Introduction to heat pumps and solar thermal

16 November 2023 @ 12:00 pm 1:00 pm

As the world moves away from fossil fuels, we will be saying goodbye to our gas fires and boilers – and instead electrifying the heating systems in our homes.

Heating our homes currently accounts for as much as 16% of the UK’s planet-warming carbon dioxide emissions.

So, what will this mean for the systems that deliver the energy we depend upon?

In just 12 years’ time you probably won’t be able to buy a gas boiler any more. The government’s ambition is to ban sales of new ones from 2035 in order to help meet its legally binding target to reduce emissions to net zero by 2050.

London’s ‘accelerated green’ target is to reach net zero by 2030. This involves the roll-out of 2.2 million heat pumps by 2030.

In order to drive the roll out of heat pumps and meet the net zero targets, employers need people with your skills.

This webinar, part of a series by the Local London Green Jobs & Skills Partnership, will give you an introduction to these technologies and give you an advantage over your peers.

Richard Love has over 30 years’ experience in the plumbing renewable and gas industry, specialising in design and build projects at Quantum Group. Richard will explain how heat pumps actually work. Quantum Group, established in 1997, is a leading decarbonisation specialist and renewable training provider.

So, if you’re a student of electrical installation, built environment, construction, design or surveying, or just have an interest in these topics, then this is the webinar for you.
